A Roman walled town with evidence from the Mesolithic, Iron Age and Medieval periods, together with a complex of traditional farm buildings dating back to the 17th century.

Most of the buildings at Chester Farm would originally have been thatched.
The development of the railways in the 19th century made the transport of heavy but practical Welsh slate a much cheaper option.
Chester Farm is situated just off the eastbound A45 between Wellingborough and Rushden
